MOTOR COMPANY SELECTS EVANS' WATERLESS NPG+
ENGINE COOLING FOR ITS NEW CUNNINGHAM C-7 GRAND TOURER

Cunningham traces its lineage to Briggs Cunningham, builder and racer of the fabulous Cunningham cars of the 1950's. Credited with having built the first American sports car, Briggs Cunningham produced a series of cars, the C-l through the C-6. The C-4R was particularly noteworthy as it nearly won the 24 hour race at Le Mans in 1952, an amazing feat for a small American company. Nearly 50 years later, members of the Cunningham family are principal backers of the new Cunningham Motor Company along with Robert Lutz, formerly President of the Chrysler Corp., and currently CEO of the Exide Corp. The Cunningham C-7, a luxury GT (grand tourer), is slated for production beginning in 2003. "The birth of the modem Cunningham brings together a number of high-tech improvements heretofore lacking in production automobiles, including our waterless NPG+ engine cooling system," according to John W. Evans, CEO of Evans Cooling Systems, Inc., and inventor of the cooling system. "Powered by a 500+ hp V-12 engine, the Cunningham will have tremendous performance capabilities that will require a cooling system that can dissipate the heat produced by that kind of horsepower. We are pleased that our cooling system has been selected for this remarkable automobile," Evans said. The Evans cooling system uses a proprietary "lifetime", essentially non-toxic high boiling point non-aqueous (waterless) coolant. The coolant is operated substantially below its boiling point and any locally generated coolant vapor is immediately condensed back to liquid, keeping liquid coolant constantly in contact with all of the coolant jacket metal, preventing hot spots. A unique path is maintained to continuously remove any gases that can't condense in the coolant jacket. The coolant may be operated at higher than conventional temperatures without causing detonation or other signs of cooling system failure. "The Evans cooling system will provide to Cunningham the ability to perform without cooling system failure regardless of any ambient air temperature or operating vehicle load parameter," according to Jack McCormack, President and CEO of the Cunningham Motor Company. "This is one of the many innovations that will set the Cunningham C-7 apart from all previous production automobile efforts," he added. |
